Speed taxi-driving skills essential. No, really.
My CV as a hotelier now includes ‘speed taxi-driving’ under the section marked skills and achievements – thanks to previously unseen gridlock on the less-than-mean streets of Eastbourne, the cab taking my guests to a wedding at Birling Manor didn’t turn up, with the distinct possibility of them arriving later than the bride.
No other option but to rev up the Skoda, try not to crease the posh frocks and suit in the back whilst leaving a smell of burning rubber all the way up the hill.
Can the guestlist stretch any further for The Guesthouse East? A packed weekend, as ever, littered by a varied and interesting crowd, including a media clan, headhunter and professional cricket coach.
