Family fun

Eastbourne is a great destination for a family holiday.

With two kids of our own, we've tried a LOT of the child-friendly attractions - here and in wider Sussex.

Eastbourne beach

Out and about

We’ve lots more ideas and leaflets to share with you, but here are a few faves:

  • Do the Dotto – kids love our seafront mini train
  • Bottle feed newly-born lambs (lambing season) at Seven Sisters Sheep Centre
  • Skoot, skate or ride the promenade – where we taught ours to ride bikes
  • Fly a kite at Beachy Head – but keep the kids away from the cliff edge
  • Go to Gildredge Park – fab play area, skate park and best scones in Love All cafe
  • Ride steam trains and picnic in the park – Eastbourne Miniature Steam Railway
  • Visit Drusilla’s – zoo, park, Thomas the Tank Engine, Hello Kitty and more…
  • Bounce on the inflatable pillow, ride a tractor and much more at Blackberry Farm

Indoor options

While we are officially the UK’s sunniest spot, don’t panic if the weather lets you down…

  • Go swimming – the Sovereign Centre has a great fun pool with waves and flume
  • Relive the past – visit the Museum of Shops on Cornfield Terrace
  • Let off steam – in one of Eastbourne’s indoor play areas: The Playstation (near station), Leo’s (Pevensey Road), Rockies and Treasure Island (both seafront)

Beach babes

Little girl with air buoyEastbourne’s lovely pebble beach – recommended in the Good Beach Guide – is great for paddling, swimming and rockpooling (try Holywell at low tide).

Parents can tag children with KidzSafe waterproof identification wristbands – available free from the lifeguards’ office.
